How to Create a Product Listing That Converts
4 October 2026 1 min read
Write product listings that answer buyers' questions: titles, photos, specs, benefits, delivery and returns.
A useful product listing answers the buyer's main questions quickly. When customers cannot touch a product, your listing has to do the job of a good salesperson.
Essential parts
- A clear, searchable title.
- High-quality, authorised photos from several angles.
- Accurate specifications: size, material, colour, model.
- Readable benefits — what the product does for the buyer.
- Price, stock status and delivery estimate.
- Return information.
Be honest about limitations
Explain limitations instead of relying on exaggerated claims. A customer who knows exactly what to expect is less likely to return the item.
Make it easy to scan
Organise descriptions with headings and concise bullets, and make sure the page works well on mobile.
Use FAQs
Add relevant FAQs when they genuinely help customers, such as sizing or compatibility questions you receive often.
Measure and improve
Monitor views, clicks, orders and refund reasons to see what needs improvement. A small change in photos or title can make a big difference.
Frequently asked questions
How many photos should a product listing have?
At least three to five: front, back, details and the product in use or showing scale.
Should I copy descriptions from the manufacturer?
Rewrite them in your own words where possible and add useful details customers ask about.
